Addressing Real-Time Reporting Delays

Home / Open Questions / Addressing Real-Time Reporting Delays

Background: Epidemiological and genetic data used for forecasting are subject to real-time reporting delays that can impact the applicability of retrospective studies to operational forecasting.

Question / Future Work: More work is needed to bridge the gap between retrospective study results (which ignore reporting delays) and the reality of real-time operational forecasting, especially for models that rely on genetic variant data which is known to have meaningful reporting lags.
