Balancing Accuracy and Structure

Home / Open Questions / Balancing Accuracy and Structure

Background: Forecasting spatiotemporal systems often involves a trade-off between achieving high point-wise prediction accuracy (e.g., low MSE) and preserving the overall structural fidelity of the field (e.g., SSIM/PSNR).

Question / Future Work: Research should focus on developing multi-objective optimization strategies that effectively balance the minimization of point-wise prediction errors with the robust preservation of global structures in the forecasted physical fields.
